Decker often thought of herself as a traditional country artist, but the album's marketing and production was targeted at an audience more influenced by pop. After two more singles from the album stiffed Decker confronted label executives to gain more control over her music, and her subsequent single Boys in the Summer was intended to be a more traditional release. Decker had another album titled Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy and it was released, however Mercury shelved it after the initial two singles did not chart. Decker then was let out of her contract.
