April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began with guitar and piano in 7th grade which sparked curiosity. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. The singer spent much of her time when she was 14 writing songs and practicing music. Over the next few months, she started taking writing trips together with her dad in LA as well as NY. The month also saw her include other related topics for some of her friends dealing with such things as peer pressure disabilities and even teens who commit suicide through the songs Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership and is also a specialist in lifestyle. Lockhart was born with no left hand, and it's an aspect of her identity, but that's not the entire story. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. However, it doesn't emphasize her disability. What message is it sending? We all have multiple aspects and that we are all unique and that we are greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I do not believe that disability will define my character. I don't intend to be an influencer on disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." But it does not affect my daily living. I do my normal activities and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. This is a major element of my life and it's imperative that we talk about it. Lockhart, a real motivation for self-acceptance generally she is on a long road to reach the goal. She admits that she has gone through periods of feeling insecure about her body and feeling uneasy wearing certain clothing styles which exposed her arms. Now, though she dons what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social networks with a sense of pride. Self-love, according to her, is a kind of journey. "I don't think you will ever be there," she said. It's true for all, no matter what their levels of anxiety. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who can discern and understand your heart.
